Breathing Wellness

Introducing the Breathing Wellness Movement

Solving the airway-sleep-breathing problem on a global scale could result in significant cost savings across the entire healthcare spectrum. It has the potential to reduce the effects of common chronic health concerns and change the lives of millions of people of all ages who suffer from compromised airway, sleep, and breathing issues.

The Breathing Wellness movement is a concentrated global initiative led by Vivos’s integrated group of multidisciplinary healthcare providers.

The movement seeks to raise awareness about the importance of treating specific airway conditions that impair normal breathing during sleep.

What is Breathing Wellness

It’s a global movement

The Breathing Wellness Movement is a movement toward optimal health and vitality through a singular focus on three foundational components: airway, breathing, and sleep.

A healthy, open, and fully functioning airway leads to proper breathing, especially at night, which promotes a deep sleep and the rejuvenation our bodies need for optimum health and wellness.

Sleep Apnea

Around the world, healthcare providers are beginning to pay careful attention to the overall health benefits of healthy breathing during sleep. Compromised breathing during sleep, such as obstructive sleep apnea, has been connected to several health conditions which can be serious and even life-threatening.

Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder. People who suffer from this condition stop breathing intermittently while sleep.

The main types of sleep apnea

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea, which can be mild, moderate or severe
  • Central Sleep Apnea
  • Complex / Mixed Sleep Apnea

Physicians are of the opinion that treatment of your sleep apnea will have a positive impact on your overall health and vitality. Unfortunately, millions of people in the US who suffer from sleep apnea remain undiagnosed.

If you suspect you or someone you love is suffering from sleep apnea, you should consult a physician or a specially-trained dentist who is board certified.

The breathing wellness movement goes beyond the historical palliative paradigm within dental sleep medicine. Palliative treatments result in lifetime intervention and treatment. Breathing wellness provides opportunities for hope of airway enhancement and restoration.

A Healthy Mind

A Healthy Heart

A Healthy Body

Individuals who suffer from sleep-disordered breathing, including mild-to-moderate sleep apnea, often underestimate its impact on their overall health.

A Healthy Brain

  • Clinical depression
  • Generalized anxiety
  • Alzheimer's
  • Dementia
  • Aggression
  • Chronic allergies
  • ADHD

A Healthy Heart

  • Hypertension
  • Heart disease
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Heart palpitations
  • Cardiovascular disease

A Healthy Body

  • Snoring
  • Mouth breathing
  • Cancer
  • Obesity
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Allergies
  • Headaches
  • Migraine
  • Diabetes
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Chronic pain

Sleep-disordered breathing, including obstructive sleep apnea, may contribute to a variety of health concerns.

Normal breathing is silent breathing through your nose. It is quiet and effortless. It allows our bodies to go into normal deep, restorative sleep, and to awake refreshed and ready to take on each new day. Snoring and sleep apnea are not normal breathing patterns, and they are not healthy.

A Complex Problem

Millions suffer from a variety of adverse health conditions which may be the result of interrupted sleep patterns. While lying down asleep, someone with mandibular retrognathia or an underdeveloped upper jaw (maxillary hypoplasia) is often unable to achieve and sustain good, effective breathing.

Correcting the underlying condition may result in better breathing, more restful sleep, and a renewal of healthy vibrant living.

Sleep-disordered breathing/sleep apnea is a complex/common problem.

Several factors may contribute to the condition

  • Obesity
  • Increased neck circumference
  • Narrow or obstructed airway
  • Nasal obstruction or congestion
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Drug abuse
  • Sleep aids or sedatives

A number of anatomical factors may contribute to the condition

  • Mandibular retrognathia
  • Tonsillar / adenoidal hypertrophy
  • Macroglossia
  • Maxillary hypoplasia
  • Enlargement / elongation of the soft palate

Symptoms of Mild-to-Moderate Sleep Apnea & Sleep Disordered Breathing

  • Chronic snoring
  • Daytime drowsiness
  • Gasping episodes while asleep
  • Persistent headaches
  • Obesity and large neck
  • Hypertension
  • Mood swings
  • Chronic pain

Our Commitment and Contribution to the Breathing Wellness Movement

We are focused on three pillars of excellence in the breathing wellness movement. We are proud to be contributing alongside the pioneering healthcare providers who are implementing a thoughtful multidisciplinary approach and innovative protocol.

1

Breathing Wellness Research

Our unified mission is to address the world of obstructive sleep apnea. We are committed to doing all we can to contribute, in a productive way, to the advancement of the breathing wellness movement.

We are making significant investments in scientific research as just a small part of our overall contribution to the movement. We are investing in clinical trials, research, and the development of advanced clinical courses for doctors and their staff.

2

Breathing Wellness Therapeutics

We have developed safe, effective, non-invasive biomimetic oral appliances for the prevention and treatment of maxillary hypoplasia and mandibular retrognathia, which are the underlying conditions in most (craniofacial) sleep-disordered breathing cases, excluding neurologic and metabolic cases.

Our ongoing investments are focused in five key areas:

  • Class I and Class II medical devices
  • Therapeutic oral appliances
  • Maxillary and mandibular guides
  • Advanced nutritional supplements
  • Collateral therapeutic protocols
3

Breathing Wellness Clinicians

We recognize and acknowledge the importance and sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship. We are making significant investments of time and capital resources into the continuous development of clinical and practice management programs aimed at making doctors and breathing wellness dentists better caregivers.

Our programs are designed to improve clinical aptitude, practice management, and patient interactions.

We recognize and hold sacred the purpose of our mission and the importance of the clinicians we work with.
