Dr. Mershon was born and raised in Colorado. He attended both West and high schools. He moved to New Orleans to attend Loyola University, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry.
After earning those degrees, he returned to his beloved state of Colorado where he began working in the dental field. He worked at Colorado’s largest full-service dental laboratory, where he quickly learned vital skills such as crown, bridge, denture, and implant fabrication.
Growing up the son of a carpenter meant that Dr. Mershon was taught very early on how to fix just about anything, and these skills proved to be extremely valuable in the dental laboratory. During his time there, he realized the dental field was his true passion.
To further his dental experience before applying to dental school, he began working as an orthodontic assistant for Dr. Hilary Baskin. After being accepted in Marquette University’s School of Dentistry, Dr. Mershon moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for his postgraduate, doctoral education. After earning his Doctorate in Dental Surgery and Sciences, he was accepted into Marquette University’s orthodontic program. He eagerly moved back to Denver after completion of the orthodontic program to rejoin Dr. Baskin in 2007.
Dr. Mershon holds memberships in many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists, Colorado Dental Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, and Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists. He enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of orthodontics, so he has lectured to dental students, high school students, and children in the public schools.
He has also been interviewed for numerous newspaper articles such as in Colorado Parent Magazine as a dental expert. He also has a passion for treating patients with developmental disabilities and sensory issues.
A father of a blended family with eight amazing children, Dr. Mershon spends most of his out-of-office time helping with homework, attending kids sporting events, and traveling with his wife, Kristal, and their kids. He enjoys basketball, golf, football, camping, and hiking, and is particularly fond of any professional team from the Denver area!
